A few years ago, social media blew up recently during the History Channel’s The Bible miniseries because some online dating site named Christian Mingle had the audacity to use the beloved old school Jars of Clay song, “Love Song for a Savior” in its marketing attempts. Every good Christian knew that when Jars of Clay sings, “I want to fall in love with you,” they’re referring to Jesus and not an online dating match. Gah… You want to get some Christians talking? Take one of their beloved Christian songs and use it inappropriately.
So who owns Christian Mingle? They use “our” music in their commercials, after all. This is not a problem for some people. However, for those who are leery of sites that are not specifically-owned by Christians but are matching them in relationships, then you might be averse to Christian Mingle.
But, if you are of the view that you don’t shop only with specifically-Christian companies in other areas of your life, the details of who actually owns Christian Mingle might not matter to you.
The other question that is often implied when people ask us “Who owns Christian Mingle?” is whether or not Christian Mingle is a good site for Christians to use in regards to online dating. Or, in more succinct terms, “Can a Christian find a like-minded date on Christian Mingle?”
