In the eharmony vs. Christian Mingle debate, we think there’s a clear winner. And it’s not because we have ties to any site in particular. It’s just that one stands out as a better choice for your investment, especially if you’re a Christian single.
It’s true that when we reviewed the Best Christian Dating Sites, we rated eharmony (Read our eharmony review) as the best online dating site. It doesn’t mean eharmony is flawless; it just means that it scored highest overall.
When we ranked the sites, Christian Mingle did okay. It just didn’t quite make it into the top spot (Read our Christian Mingle Review).
But if you’re comparing just eharmony vs. Christian Mingle and not the assorted online dating sites that exist, here are our thoughts:
Personal Control
If you want control of your matches at all times, then Christian Mingle is the clear winner. eharmony allots you matches based on its algorithm. They’ll usually give you 5-7 matches per day, based on your settings. You don’t have access to their entire system of profiles to conduct your own search, but with Christian Mingle you do.
Christian Matches
We realize what we’re about to state is purely anecdotal, but we’re going to go ahead and say it anyway. Maybe knowing our thoughts will help you make a choice between eharmony vs. Christian Mingle. So here goes: It just feels like there are more quality Christian matches on eharmony when compared to Christian Mingle. Of course, that’s just our opinion, but we have dated on both sites, and we’re just telling you what we think.
And if we’re continuing on a strictly anecdotal path, we seem to hear the same thoughts from SingleRoots readers as well. Maybe it’s because eharmony really is onto something with that 29 Dimensions of Compatibility testing, and it matches you with people who are better for you instead of leaving you in a sea of profiles. Or maybe it’s just because it costs more money. Who knows really? Whatever it is, eharmony leads this area for us.
Ownership
Not everyone cares to patronize only Christian businesses. And if you don’t have a preference, then you can disregard this section. But if you do care that a business with “Christian” in the title is actually owned by Christians, then you’ll be disappointed to know that Christian Mingle is owned by Spark Networks, a provider of other brands such as JDate.com (Jewish) and LDSSingles.com (Mormon). Ease of Use
One of the areas that we can’t downplay in the eharmony vs. Christian Mingle discussion is how aesthetically easy eharmony is when compared to all the bells and whistles on Christian Mingle. That doesn’t mean Christian Mingle is too hard to use, but it does mean if you are not tech savvy, you would probably find eharmony as more user-friendly.
If we’re strictly evaluating the two sites against only each other–eharmony vs. Christian Mingle–then we’d have to rate eharmony as a better choice over Christian Mingle when investing your money.
